Dude, where’s my Internet?

It’s been the question I’ve been asking myself every day for the past two weeks. I’ve spent countless hours on the phone with my provider, bought completely new equipment (only to have it not work immediately), and then spent more countless hours on the phone getting the new equipment to work.

Finally, I can sit on my sofa and read blogs. Finally, I can write my own again.

So, that’s where I’ve been.

So, where am I going?

  • Dog sitting. For my parents. Which I’m actually quite unexcited about. Because I’m a good daughter, I’m missing out on visiting friends, happy hours, and my easy commute. Next week, I’ll be trading my walking shoes for a 60 mile (round trip) drive each day. Boo.
  • The country. After the dog sitting, I’m rushing right out of town to a bachelorette party. It’s not “up north“, but it’s still out in the middle of nowhere. Which will be great.
  • Chicago. For another, weekend-long, bachelorette party.
  • Boston. My birthday present from DD. I’m currently accepting suggestions of restaurants to go to and sights to see.

Seriously, the next month is going to be insane — much like the past two have been. As much as I love summer and love having fun stuff to do every weekend, I’m kind of sick of having stuff EVERY weekend. Especially since I just moved and kinda want to chill in my new ‘hood on the weekends.

Maybe in December.

Loft Style Living

The title is a phrase that was rather prominent in the last chick-lit book I read. And with my recent move to one of these dwellings, I can’t seem to get it out of my head.

My cozy bedroom, complete with new duvet. $60 on Overstock.com thankyouverymuch. Still need some artwork in here…have been planning on doing some zen-like theme.

My kitchen with an immense amount of counter space. And full size appliances — which are a luxury compared to the last place. As is the dishwasher.

The main space. Stained cement, exposed ducts, high ceilings, and track lighting. It’s a very adult space where my stuff just doesn’t seem to fit in. But I’m making it work 🙂

My very own washer and dryer. Though it takes three times as long to do laundry (they’re super tiny). Also, I just realized that the water temp. dial is all jacked up and I nearly washed my delicates on Hot and definitely washed my towels on Cold. Not. Cool.

And finally, the audience participation portion of the program. This photo shows my living “room”, with my fabulous red sofa and old, but loved, papasan. I still need to get another chair, but am not sure what I want. I also desperately need a rug for this area. However, I’m at a bit of a loss. I’ve got a brown/orange floor and a deep red couch. What should I do for a rug?! I’m thinking neutral, but have no idea on print or anything like that. If you have ideas, they’re appreciated!!!

No place like home

Just a quick update as life is moving at warp speed these days…

I’m in my new place and loving it! It’s funny, here I am sitting at work, just anxious to get home so I can luxuriate in the fabulousness that is…my kitchen…my big open living room…the central air…the walkability…the proximity to DD…the etc etc. It’s been a long while since I’ve been so excited about my home.

All the boxes are unpacked and everything is set up. All that’s needed is some pictures on the walls and some rugs on the floor. Though those last details will probably take weeks, if not months, to get done. I’m just happy I’m here and no longer ashamed to show off my home.

This must be what being an adult feels like.

There is one major missing component; my Internet, which is coming on Friday. So until then, posting will be limited (what else is new) and the gReader will just have to wait.

Pictures will come at some point, probably when I get Internet, or just get sick of sitting around luxuriating. Or when I come up for air from making out with DD. We live so freaking close we can see each other every! single! day!

Though that, too, will probably get old sometime soon. Ah well, the world has to come crashing back to normal at some point.
